Elected to the bench in 2020, Judge Flint served as the Judge of the 401st Judicial District Court in Collin County, Texas until 2024 where he resolved almost 8,000 cases and conducted 36 jury trials. A resident of Collin County since 1980, Judge Flint’s 40+ year legal career includes providing general corporate, financial planning, commercial, real estate, and litigation counsel to individuals, business owners and managers, professionals (including health care providers), and non-profit entities.
During his years in private practice, both with the Flint Law Firm and with Scheef and Stone, Flint served as lead counsel in numerous jury and bench civil trials in North Texas, in both state and federal courts, and has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in disputes involving real estate, commercial matters, competition, employment, civil rights, trusts and estates, general tort matters, and creditor’s rights.
A 1972 graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received a B.S. in general business with an emphasis in management information systems, Flint served as President of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and as President of the Student Competitions on Relevant Engineering Inc., and received the Karl T. Compton Prize for contributions to engineering education. He then earned an M.B.A. from Wake Forest University in 1974. In 1980, Judge Flint graduated from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law where he graduated in the top 15% of his class and placed first in his courses in Texas Civil Procedure, Corporate Taxation, Intellectual Property, Class Actions, and Estate Taxation.
Judge Flint’s community activities included serving as a director for Real Options for Women, a director of Missions of Christ’s Church, and as an arbitrator for the Metropolitan Dallas Better Business Bureau. Today, he serves as a special discovery master by appointment of the district court, mediator, and arbitrator. Judge Flint and his wife have two children and four grandchildren.
